Starting in October, KLM will introduce a new onboard service concept on European flights: Grand Café KLM. Under this new concept, passengers will enjoy greater choice in food and beverages, with the option to pre-order a meal before departure or select items from an onboard menu during the flight. With this enhancement, KLM is responding to a broader trend among European full-service airlines and to travelers' growing desire for more choice and flexibility. Passengers will be able to pre-order meals such as a poke bowl or Caesar salad before their flight. In addition, they can purchase a variety of items from the onboard menu, including a salmon egg wrap or yogurt with fruit and seeds. KLM's complimentary offering will remain available and includes coffee, tea, water, orange juice, and a stroopwafel. "We are delighted to welcome our passengers to Grand Café KLM," said Bas Gerressen, EVP Inflight Services. "With this new concept, we are taking the next step in enhancing the European travel experience. Passengers will benefit from greater choice, more flexibility, and an offering that better reflects a wide range of preferences and needs. Whether they choose to pre-order a meal or spontaneously select a snack or beverage onboard, Grand Café KLM allows passengers to tailor the service to their personal preferences. In doing so, this new concept further strengthens the warm and hospitable experience we strive to provide." Earlier, KLM announced that it was exploring a new catering model for Economy Class. Since then, the airline has conducted multiple testing phases across various destinations, evaluating both the product assortment and the supporting operational processes. KLM has been investing in improving the passenger experience across its European network for some time. The airline has already added 16 Airbus A321neo aircraft and 25 Embraer 195-E2 aircraft to its fleet, featuring modern seats with USB charging ports and larger overhead bins. A few months ago, KLM also introduced complimentary Wi-Fi on European flights.
Skal selv fly noen legs med KLM i oktober, på economy billett, og er spent på innholdet. Må si at jeg er glad i brødskive med ost som de pleier å ha nå, men mer valg skader heller ikke. At alt blir mot betaling, er et minus... Alkoholfrie drikkevarer ser ut til å forbli en del av servicekonseptet som er inkludert, mens alt annet (inkl øl og vin, samt mat) blir mot betaling.
Høres ut som mye logistikk og crew jobb hvis ikke bestillingene skal hentes fra et standard utvalg som lastes. Men, for de som er aktive flyvere, fint med valg. Jeg ser for meg mange spørsmål fra andre når noen kunder får mat, mens det ikke nødvendigvis er noe for kjøp for andre.
Jeg har vært, og er, en fan av en brødskive og en cola ombord hos KL. Det er akkurat passe fra en drar hjemmefra til man ankommer destinasjonen/lounge ved mellomlanding.
